Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Credits and production notes, courtesy the Internet Movie Database.

  • George Lucas's STAR WARS trilogy was well-loved by audiences (even though critics were split) but for some reason (and I can't figure it out), the first entry in the prequels, THE PHANTOM MENACE, earned a HUGE onslaught of critically divided posts just about everywhere in the world, from the press to the internet to fans in real life

  • While I do agree that the original trilogy is a tough act to follow, I wasn't as grossly let down by this movie as some were

  • Once again, critics damned the movie for one reason or another, and the heated debate on whether Lucas "trashed the original trilogy" or not is still going on

  • The dialogue, although nowhere nearly as bad as critics and some disgruntled fans say, lacks the spark of the original trilogy

  • I'm guessing that they both felt uncomfortable doing these scenes, hence why the chemistry between them isn't as interesting as, say, Han and Leia's from the original trilogy

    the soundtrack.

  • Of all these ideas, only the title theme and 'force' theme would remain prevalent in all of Williams' sequel and prequel scores, with Leia's theme incorporated to a lesser degree in the classic trilogy

  • The only debate that exists today about the actual content of the Star Wars score is related to the 'Special Edition' of the classic trilogy that was released in 1997 as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the saga

  • A person could easily ramble on for days about the people and technicalities behind all of these albums; every time you think you've purchased the definitive and final version of any of the classic trilogy scores, you can wait a few years and be treated to yet another re-release in the stores

  • Much of the information that follows, regarding each of the various releases of the score, is relevant to not only this score, but the others in the classic trilogy as well, so you'll read very similar accounts in the Filmtracks reviews of those scores as well

  • After their initial, separate releases on LP records, the CD editions of the scores have always been released as a trilogy, despite your ability to usually buy them separately upon each update of all three

    The Empire Strikes Back
Several reviews and reactions from critics. Includes some general movie information.

  • SYNOPSIS Considered the most morally and emotionally complex of the original Star Wars trilogy, THE EMPIRE STRIKE BACK continues creator George Lucas’s epic saga where STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE left off

  • Poor Chewy remains the brunt of the many of the jokes.' -- 'I've always found Empire to be the Hamlet of science fiction, basically because nothing good happens to the hero in the entire story.' -- 'may always be the middle child of the Star Wars Trilogy, but it will always remain the stronges' -- 'I think I can recite most of the dialogue from The Empire Strikes Back -- I mean, even R2's clicks and beeps

  • Isn't that sad?' -- 'Scattered and less focused, the second of the Star Wars trilogy to be re-released in the Special Edition format remains a deep pleasure to behold.' -- 'Loaded with perfectly timed comic relief and full of rich characters!' -- 'Colorful, exciting, witty and adventuresome!' -- 'Sci-fi cinema at its best.' -- 'By far the best part of the trilogy, Empire is a classic that completely transcends its genre, with a reputation that can only grow and grow.' -- 'It balances bloodshed with charm, spectacle with childlike glee

  • People ask me what they should go see in the theaters right now, and I always point them to the Star Wars trilogy

  • 67% Average Rating: 6/10 The film is a huge, rousing finale that resolves all plot twists, settles all accounts, reunites old friends and sweeps to a climax that all but blows the theater apart! Jedi may not be George Lucas's crown jewel, but his trilogy as a whole is as good as film fantasy gets

However, though this scene from Return of the Jedi is his favorite, Burtt believes that the first film has had the most impact on him
