  • About Club Information Averages Other Previous Posts Archives Sunday, August 20, 2006 Going Underground! - 2nd's Lose Thriller Having escaped the worst of the rain, the 2nd XI travelled to Keyworth to take on Champions-elect Willoughby on the Wolds in a top of the table tussle.The toss was lost & Calvo were sent into bat on a wicket, which threatened the batsmen's toes! To say it was a little on the low side would be an understatement, still it's better than the ball flying around your ears off a length and it was certainly fit for play.John Leafe & Callum Jayes got us off to a good start, thanks initially to some wayward bowling from the Willoughby openers, with 42 runs from the first 13 overs

  • As the rain began to fall with about 10 overs remaining, Willoughby's score stood on 120-6, just 25 required & the game slipping away

  • Aug 21 Fair amount of general erosion from the week's rain, but the main obstacle is a dirt/mud slide blocking the trail just before the climb out on Upper Loch Ness

  • It's getting bad (but still ridable) & more rain/riders will only make it worse

  • Jul 4 Trails have not received the rain we have had in Tampa but the trails are in extremely great shape…all blue trails, such as Ant Hill , John Brown and Rattlesnake, are packed and great for spinning thru the trees…looking forward to the Swamp ride on July 30 Aug 29 Most Trails are open, with some water around

  • We then got rained off for 2 days so we minced around, drank beer, sang happy birthday to Dynes and went swimming/attempted DWS

  • On the way up we were greeted with heavy rain, but when we reached the Peaks it had all but cleared up

  • Then headed over to High Neb High Neb was a little windy, especially on the top, and we only got a couple of routes in before the rain came and we got drenched

  • Towards the end of the day I led an HVS up The Needle and then got drenched while belaying Dave up it - Dave loved the slabby climbing in the rain too
