Knechtel, a professional musician from Walkerton, Ontario, has been involved with the festival since its inception in 1976

John's Church, with a programme of exhibitions, conversations and other events.
Special events to launch the Festival of Spirituality and Peace 2006 THE MEANING OF HUMAN PERSONHOOD Sunday 6 August, 6pm-7pm at St Johnâs (venue 127) On the Christian feast of the Transfiguration, Bishop Kallistos Ware , world famous Eastern Orthodox theologian and spiritual leader will give an opening keynote address outlining the meaning of human personhood â followed by simple meditations and music from Edinburgh InterFaith Choir and St Johnâs Choir followed by informal reception (until 8pm) with various festival artists and contributors present, introduced by Brian Morton , arts journalist

Oh yes, even the didgeridoo, which first appeared in Tahitian music in 1993 (after the 1992 Festival of Pacific Arts popular performances by the Australian aboriginees) now has a Tahitian name
I had earlier been privy to informal discussions in the 1980s between former Cook Islands Prime Minister Geoffrey Henry and French Polynesian President Gaston Flosse on the subject of Cook Islands music and drumming rhythms being used in Tahiti
