  • The kids were given an assignment by their School class teacher to write a poetry on their own so that they can participate in the upcoming 'On the spot' Poetry competition in school

  • This is a great move because most of the schools almost have Drawing & coloring competitions, story telling or Poetry recitation

  • But what really irks me is 'Why don't the school organize a Poetry Writing Workshop for a day and teach the kids '?' Kids are so weak in their vocabulary skills

  • Many of them, in spite of having word vocabulary on independence ready for them, could not use their brains to frame the poetry

  • Writing poetry may not be a liking activity to a student who loves to watch TV cartoon shows or play sports games

  • How to be a Poet by Katherine West Poetry takes but a moment of time Just grab a pen and get ready to rhyme Take a deep breath and then just gaze around Open your ears and catch every sound Now you must open your heart and your soul Listen carefully, and let your pen roll Inhale each and every fragrant smell Envision heaven's grace or wrath of hell Remember to add a bit of spice Just hold your breath then quickly roll the dice Your words must have rhythm, tempo, and swing Go ahead! I explained everything Copyright Katherine West 2000-2001 The editor at Writer's Haven is proud to present the fiction of talented Chantel J

  • Eliot The truth is that writing is the profound pleasure and being read the superficial." -- Virginia Woolf Sooner of later that which is now life shall be poetry, and every fair and manly trait shall add a richer strain to the song

  • " - Kahlil Gibran WHAT POETRY MEANS TO ME Poetry has always been a part of me, Filling the area that people can't see, At times released involuntarily From feelings hidden deep inside of me

  • Poetry can, without a word spoken, Mend a heart that's been broken, Bring a tear to someone's eye Or cause a smile to replace a sigh

  • For many it affects the very soul And makes their wounded heart whole, For centuries poetry has existed, From Dante to Angelou it's consisted Of expressing what's in the heart, The area that holds the deep dark Secrets that many of us try to hide, But poetry penetrates its way inside
