"Amos 'n' Andy" was created as a radio show by two white men named Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll; they wrote all the scripts and did the voices for all the male characters
Correll played no-good Andy AND the Kingfish, with Gosden playing the hard-working gullible family man Amos
The radio programme (and the characters) began on regional radio as "Sam 'n' Henry"; when the show went national, Gosden and Correll (for legal reasons) renamed Sam and Henry as Amos and Andy
